Motivational Dynamics of Learning in the Context of Uncertainty through the Behavioristic Lens

In this regard, the special issue welcomes contributions that will engage with behavioral, emotional, and cognitive aspects of uncertainty in educational contexts. The studies can include empirical studies, educational practices, and theoretical frameworks devoted to discovering how uncertainty is experienced, interpreted, and acted upon by learners and/or educators and implementing it into pedagogy. The topics may include, but are not limited to: learner motivation and demotivation, emotion regulation, grit, emotional presence, ambiguity tolerance, anxiety, engagement, buoyancy, well-being, and resilience. Interventions may employ scaffolded exploration, reflective practices, problem-based learning, inquiry-based learning, gamification, and simulation to explore uncertainty. We especially encourage interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary perspectives bringing together neuroscience, psychology, and education. The contributions should leverage the notion of uncertainty as an inherent and potentially enriching aspect of the learning process to inform more responsive, adaptive, and human-centered approaches to teaching and learning. Authors are encouraged to align their work with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG 4: Quality Education.
